Kira (they/them) is an interdisciplinary artist with a background in classical ballet and competitive dance from Chicago, IL. In 2013 they completed a history B.A. at Oberlin College and knew immediately that they wanted to pursue circus. Kira completed NECCA’s professional training program in 2014 and followed it at Suzi Winston’s Circus Warehouse intensive. Since then they branched out from contortion and lyra to every apparatus they could get on including tissu, trapeze, and hammock. They went on to perform around the city in everything from large events to intimate cabarets. In 2016 they worked with On The Fly as a featured aerialist in Cedar Point’s Luminosity show. Kira has taught at schools across the country (French Woods Festival, St. Louis Circus, SANCA) and throughout NYC (Om Factory, Body and Pole. Bringing a passion for movement arts into their classes, Kira offers a unique perspective on mobility and aerial technique.
