Kristen’s background is in competitive rhythmic gymnastics and is a graduate of Anderson University where she studied Music and Dance Performance. She wandered into the wonderful world of aerial roughly ten years ago gathering various apparatus along the way: silks, lyra, dance trapeze, and harness work in particular. She is an expert in the latter discipline thanks to her extensive work with On The Fly Productions. Drawing upon her rhythmic roots, she pursued contortion training not long into her circus career and has had a mix of Mongolian and gymnastic influences. A classic city hopper, Kristen has trained/performed in Indianapolis (hometown!), Chicago, Louisville, St. Louis, Las Vegas, San Diego, Atlanta, and of course NYC. In Atlanta, she co-founded Havoc Movement Company, a high action theatre specializing in storytelling through fight choreo with a peppering of circus and flow arts. In addition to these niche fields, Kristen is a musical theatre actor. Her talents as an aerialist-singer-actor have been used in shows such as Yuletide Celebration (Indianapolis Symphony), Cirque d’Ignite (On The Fly), Cats (Paramount Chicago), and The Little Mermaid (Beef and Boards). She has appeared on TV for flying effects/aerial work on Americas Got Talent, truTV’s Fake Off, and Little Big Shots. As a circus instructor, Kristen draws upon knowledge from the fitness, kinesiology, and dance worlds to give students the tools they need to be the best stewards possible of their aerial and/or flexibility journey.
