Lani Corson

Lani (she/her) is an aerialist, actress and pilates trainer based in NYC. She has been performing professionally as an aerialist since 2010 and coaching since 2013. After receiving her BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University, she was introduced to aerial arts and what began as a hobby quickly became a passion, and an invitation to explore what could become of mixing genres spiraled into a new career path. She is a member and owner of NYC-based company 2 Ring Circus and has had the pleasure of performing across the US and the world with other companies such as Phoenix Entertainment, ImaginAerial and Cirque Central and such NYC venues as The Slipper Room and The Box to name a few.

As a dancer, Lani was introduced to pilates early on, but really began to appreciate it as a compliment to her circus training. After giving birth to her daughter in 2019, it became an integral part of her postpartum fitness journey. She spent the beginning of the pandemic completing the Balanced Body Teacher Training and has since begun teaching both group classes and private clients.

Lani’s aerial classes focus on solid technique while giving you the freedom to explore your own expression in the air. In beginning classes she will focus on providing a solid foundation and ways to build your strength, safely transitioning from executing moves on the ground to the air. As you become more advanced, she will help you explore longer sequences and more complicated wraps, drops, and transitions. Lani’s pilates classes focus on “pre-hab” and correcting imbalances in musculature and posture common to the aerial student, while building strength and flexibility. In both arenas, she will celebrate your little victories and guide you through challenges in a constructive and supportive environment.

What Students Say About Lani Corson

I truly cannot say enough good things about Lani, as a teacher, aerialist and as a person. I have been an aerialist for four years, and during that time have taken classes, private lessons and workshops with Lani nearly weekly. Lani is one of the best teachers that I have worked with; she is great at teaching technique and pushing me to improve, has an amazing eye for seeing how her students can make adjustments, and teaches very fun and unique sequences. She is also an incredibly talented aerialist with a beautiful aesthetic, and I am continually learning just from watching her practice and perform. I learned much of what I know from Lani!
