We are Manhattan’s premier training ground for the aerial and circus arts. Our instructors are professional performers who have a commitment to their craft, and a passion for sharing their art.
We are professional aerialists, acrobats, dancers, actors, musicians, and performers, and we are always exploring and expanding what’s possible in circus arts. We’ve performed on broadway and in shows across the globe, as well as corporate and international events, and appeared in movies and on television. Life’s a party, and we’re there!
In our classes you will learn the art, and feel the magic, of aerial and circus. We give you the guidance and encouragement to get there.
AANYC began in 2012 when aerial artists, Kris, Kristin & Josh found themselves in transition – Trapeze School of New York had just lost their space, and Manhattan was suddenly without an Aerial Arts school. It was a big loss for both aerial performers and devoted circus students in the City. AANYC was created to fill the void, finding a home at CATS gym in midtown Manhattan. Today AANYC remains Manhattan’s only dedicated aerial arts and circus school. We’re proud to be in the heart of the City – it’s where we started, and it’s where we’ll stay.
Why train with AANYC?
At AANYC, you become the artist and performer you want to be. Discover your strength, creativity, and confidence, and the sky’s the limit. We’ll show you the ropes (or silks or lyra or handstand!), and you’ll get into the best shape of your life, all while expanding your comfort zone and having a blast.
You will strengthen muscles you never knew you had while learning to climb, invert, balance and contort. Acquire new skills, stamina and grace to accomplish your goals. Come learn, and share our passion for the aerial and circus arts.
Take a class, get hooked, and soon YOU will be rocking a solo in one of our shows.
You got this. You can do it. Let’s fly.
Our instructors are among the best aerialists, acrobats and circus artists in the City. We are working performers who love to teach, and inspire students from around the world with our enthusiasm for the craft.
We train you, using safe techniques and solid mechanics, and guide you with personal attention to achieve your goals. We’re like proud parents as you pull off your first (or hundredth!) handstand, pull-up, or aerial drop. And we’re dedicated artists, encouraging you to embody your fullest expression in the air, on the floor, and in your life.
We limit our classes to 6 students in aerial classes and 8 in stretch, contortion and handstand classes, so our instructors can give you close, personal attention and address your individual needs and goals.
Our community is like a family, welcoming and non-competitive. You will challenge your own growth and fitness goals, and we’re all here to cheer you on. Your teachers and peers will celebrate your victories, encourage your performance, and watch as you shine.
Our gym is an open space, with multiple classes at any given time. While you’re flipping on silks or straps, another class might be perfecting their handstands. You’ll have inspiration all around you, with the chance to explore and master many modalities and techniques.
Never thought you would dare to do that drop? Uncertain if you could ever do a pull-up? Now look at you – you’ve got your own solo in our student showcase!
Part of the magic of aerial and acrobatic arts is the exhilaration of performance. What begins as a fantasy, quickly becomes a worthy goal, and with persistence, a reality.
We direct student productions multiple times a year, where you showcase your talent for your friends, peers and teachers, and feel the excitement of live performance. With perseverance, you can advance to professional levels – we’ve got the teachers who can take you there.
Some students come to get fit by climbing, others want to dance in the air. Whether you’re training to build strength and long, lean muscles, or you’re here to awaken the grace of your inner ballerina, our expert instructors support you in attaining your goals. We’ll help you break through barriers – physical or emotional – to achieve your performing goals.
Some of our students even advance to professional performance, or circus career schools (including NECCA & Montreal’s National Circus School). How far do you want to go? The sky is no limit.
